its traditional american to wear a white or silver wedding dress. but more and more vintage, cream, light pink, and light light brown dresses are becoming popular!
there are many styles of weddings dresses; mermaid, strapless, princess style, and so many more. wedding dress shopping is often done with the bridesmaids, where the bride tries a dress on and the bridesmaids give their feedback. often it takes many dresses and trips to find the perfect dress.
many tv shows have been created that are all about wedding dresses! 'Say Yes to the Dress' is one of the most popular ones! it takes place at kleinfields in new york city. here's a video about dress shopping!

bridesmaids often wear colored dressed, picked by the bride. some brides allow their bridesmaids to pick out their own dress as long as its made from a certain color or material. other brides chose the same dress with some small variation for each bridesmaid, like a belt or the straps of the dress! the flower girl wears white, as the bride does. ring bearer usually dresses similarly to the groom.

whats next?
couples will often call the relatives, and make a wedding blog (just like this one!). that way when someone asks, they give a general time range (like early 2014 or late fall). next they create a wedding blog so that people can go on and read how they met, the proposal story, and look at the gift registry. the anticipation begins!

some couples have some nice pictures taken of them, because they may want a save the date card but also just some nice pictures. one of my cousins had a book made with all of the pictures, and the guests got to sign their congratulations at the wedding!

but weddings are so much more than just that. a wedding can become the event of a decade (think kim kardashian or kate middleton). from the cake to the dress, the flowers to the flowergirl, this blog will weave inside and out of the anatomy of a wedding. let's begin with the very start: the proposal.
it began with the classic surprise genuflection and diamond ring, but since then, the idea of the proposal has bloomed into huge events. one thing that usually stays the same, however, is the engagement ring. men are usually the ones to initiate a proposal (a man asks a woman).
men are getting more and more creative with their way of proposals. i've seen videos of flashmob proposals, and surprise proposals in front of tons of people.

this gentleman proposed to his girlfriend by creating a website comic strip. at the bottom of the website, it says 'julie, will you marry me?'. this is an extremely cute and creative way to propose!

this man proposed to his girlfriend in a garden in spain. in fact, this couple is famous for their daily video blogs (vlogs), and they vlogged their wedding too! you'll be seeing that video in later posts.

my dad proposed to my mom on christmas day! they both tell me it was special and exciting and a great christmas gift.

welcome to my blog
i decided to write about weddings for my web design blog project because i really enjoy going to weddings. i have some relatives that are getting married these days, so i've been to a couple. i really like everything about the weddings, including seeing family, hearing cute proposal stories, the food, dancing, and especially getting nice and dressed up! i hope to be a bridesmaid one day.
